Sharon AI and New Era Helium Finalise Joint Venture to Build 250MW Net-Zero Energy Data Centre in Texas

Sharon AI and New Era Helium have officially launched their joint venture, Texas Critical Data Centers LLC (TCDC), to construct a 250MW net-zero energy data centre in the Permian Basin. This collaboration highlights their shared vision for sustainable energy infrastructure supporting AI and high-performance computing (HPC) industries.

AI Meets Net-Zero Energy

Following their December 2024 binding letter of intent, the two companies are advancing plans to develop one of the largest net-zero energy data centres in the region. The project aims to utilise New Era Helium’s natural gas infrastructure and Sharon AI’s expertise in cloud GPU compute and Tier III/Tier IV data centre design.

Net-Zero Data Centre Design

The centre will incorporate carbon capture technology to qualify for 45Q tax credits, ensuring a sustainable approach. Final site selection is expected by Q1 2025, alongside entitlements, technology choices, and discussions with offtake partners like hyperscalers.

Highlights of the Initiative

  • Long-term gas supply agreements with New Era Helium to guarantee price stability.
  • Proximity to existing fibre optic networks and gas transmission lines within the Permian Basin.
  • Deployment of advanced GPUs, including NVIDIA H200 and H100 models.

Will Gray II, CEO of New Era Helium, remarked:

“The creation of Texas Critical Data Centers, LLC reflects our goal of building innovative energy infrastructure to support the growing needs of the AI/HPC-driven digital world. By combining our expertise in helium and clean energy with Sharon AI’s cutting-edge computing technologies, we’re setting a new standard for sustainability and innovation.”

Wolf Schubert, CEO of Sharon AI, added:

“We are excited to be rapidly progressing our Texas Critical Data Centers LLC joint venture with New Era Helium given the high demand in the US for large-scale, low-cost, net-zero energy data centers, which are essential for powering AI/HPC workloads.”
